SundayFilmReview:The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024)
A Popcorn Flick Disguised as a Guy Ritchie War Film

Guy Ritchie's "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" is loosely based on the daring exploits of Britain's Special Operations Executive (SOE) during World War II. Going into this film, I had high hopes and expectations, but I should have tempered them.
One of the best reviews I read summarized it perfectly: "This movie doesn't feel like it was even made by Guy Ritchie. Instead, it feels like someone else trying to make a 'Guy Ritchie' film." That reviewer hit the nail on the head.
The action scenes are over the top and you kinda have this feeling that the other characters are sitting waiting to be shot at. Despite an amazing ensemble cast that performs admirably with limited dialogue, it's frustrating to see such talent wasted on a script that lacks substance.
Ultimately, "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" is a popcorn movie – something to watch on a lazy Saturday when you don't want to pay too much attention and can appreciate corny humor and banter. For that purpose, it fits the bill perfectly.
Enjoy your Sunday folks!
